Ha, they do, but most of it is farmland, which is where you landed. A lot of it is small towns spread few and far between, with a few main big cities.
I have seen zero evidence of cities.

No the lambs don’t normally wander like that. And New Zealand is an island country, you can’t escape the sea.
You can if you go to the middle of it….? Surely you don’t see the ocean no matter where you are. That doesn’t even happen when we visit the coast.

My first view as I woke up. Not the worst, but not particularly promising… as there are no real roads or other cars in view, meaning the airport must be some time away.
By the way for some reason I keep referring to this road as White Chapel instead of White Rock. Either is fine, because I haven’t seen any white rocks anyway….
